The memorial is made from portland stone and is a simple design but it has a large relief plaque at its centre with and inscription running around the edge that reads:

Fourteenth Army - Field Marshall 'Bill' Slim 1891-1970 - Kohimah Epitath 'When you go home, tell them of us and say - for your tomorrow we gave our today'

A plaque at the base of the circular plaque tells us:

The Fourteenth Army 1942 - 1945

This plaque commemorates the men and women of the Fourteenth Army,
1942-1945, led by Bristol-born Field Marshall Sir William ('Uncle Bill') Slim,
the 1st Viscount Slim of Bishopston and Yarramulla, KG GCB GCMG GCVO
GBE DSO MC (1891-1970). Known as "The Forgotten Army", they defeated the
Japanese invasion of India in 1944 and liberated Burma in 1945.

This was Britain's largest and most diverse army comprising many
nationalities and faiths. They fought for the cause of freedom.
