" L'Hôtel de Ville (1535). Il s'agit d'un édifice du XIVème siècle, restauré ou reconstruit au XVIème siècle. Il contient une ancienne salle voûtée du XIIème siècle et de belles cheminées. Il était jadis accosté d'un donjon (démoli en 1779) orné d'un écusson aux armes de Fougères ;
Forte de ses libertés communales acquises au XIIIe siècle, la bourgeoisie s’est enrichie d’un prestigieux Hôtel de Ville. Au XVIe siècle, d’importants travaux sont entrepris. Le bâtiment rappelle l’architecture « renaissance » des châteaux de la Loire, notamment la porte sculptée d’un décor géométrique et végétal. "
