Svätá Alžbeta Uhorská (Durínska) (* 7. júl 1207, Bratislava – † 17. november 1231, Marburg) je uhorská svätica katolíckej cirkvi. Je jej zasvätená najväcšia sakrálna stavba na Slovensku Dóm sv. Alžbety v Košiciach. Je patrónkou žobrákov, vdov a sirôt, chorých, prenasledovaných, núdznych, pekárov, cipkárov; charitatívnych organizácií. (

Elisabeth von Thüringen (* 1207 in Pressburg; † 17. November 1231 in Marburg an der Lahn), auch Elisabeth von Ungarn genannt, war eine ungarische Prinzessin, deutsche Landgräfin, ist Heilige der katholischen Kirche und galt als „deutsche Nationalheilige“. Der Namenstag der Landespatronin von Thüringen und Hessen fällt auf den 19. November, den Tag ihrer Beisetzung.

St. Elizabeth of Hungary 1207 - 1231
The daughter of King Andrew II and his wife Gertrude, Elizabeth spent her childhood at Bratislava castle. After the death of her huaband Ludwig of Thuringia, she took a vow of poverty and devoted her life to others, particularly the poor and the sick. Canonized in 1235, she revered by the sisters of St. Elizabeth as her patroness.
