Among the characters who have marked the history and heritage of the city of Navarrenx or the nearby region, we can mention Baron Bernard d'Arros, lieutenant of the Queen of Navarre, during the siege of Navarrenx in 1569, Dr. Prosper Darralde, doctor of the Empress Eugenie de Montijo (1804-1860) to whom we have very beautiful reproductions of Master's paintings, visible to the Church, but we also owe to his son the beautiful mansion he has bequeathed to the Commune. Other internationally renowned figures can be cited, such as Professor Henri Lefebvre Professor of Sociology, Pierre Hourcastrémé philosopher and scholar, Bertrand Dufresne; a cagot with an exceptional destiny. Parmi les personnages qui ont marqué l’histoire et le patrimoine de la ville de Navarrenx ou la proche région, on peut citer le baron Bernard d'Arros, lieutenant de la Reine de Navarre, lors du siège de Navarrenx en 1569, le Docteur Prosper Darralde, médecin de l’Impératrice Eugénie de Montijo (1804-1860) à qui l’on de très belles reproductions de tableaux de Maître, visibles à l’Eglise, mais on doit aussi à son fils le bel hôtel particulier qu’il a légué à la Commune. D’autres personnages de réputations internationale peuvent être cités, comme le Professeur de sociologie Henri Lefebvre, Pierre Hourcastrémé philosophe et savant, Bertrand Dufresne ; cagot au destin exceptionnel. Tout près à Ogenne-Camptort, on peut citer Pierre Palassou savant minéralogiste et le Chanoine Laborde historien régionaliste. Mais peut-on passer sans dire que le plus célèbre des gouverneurs de la Place forte, fut un certain d’Artagnan : le frère du héros du roman d’Alexandre Dumas: Paul de Batz de Castelmore..
