In the courtyard of the former hospital of Arles, close to the entrance of the Mediateque a stone plaque commemorates Jacques Gibert. The inscription reads:

To Jacques Gibert
1800 - 1885

Founder and Curator of the
Municipal Library 1822 - 1872

The grateful City of Arles

The commemorative plaque was unveiled by the Mayor of Arles in February 2019 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Mediateque.
