in 1627 the Sieur Godefroy wrote that the fort of Brouage must have a hundred guns of all sizes.
Important in all strongholds, the artillery knows Brouage a boom boom in 1627. The merchant ships came there to buy cannons necessary for their defense against pirates.
At Brouage were poured the canons decorated with the arms of the king and an anchor in the name of Cardinal Richelieu intended for the armament of the ships.
