This single-storey brown brick building was built in 1869 in a Victorian Gothic style. "The station is a Gothic inspired building with a double gable roof. Built of brick laid in English bond, the structure has stucco quoins and surrounds to openings. At one end of the building is a timber framed porch with steep gabled iron roof; the timberwork is chamfered, and there are pointed arch brackets. In two of the gables are diamond shaped plaques with 1869 shown as the date of construction. Windows are four paned and the doors are four panel; those doors to the platform have glazed pointed arch upper panels."

The panel photographed (zoomed) is on the Bathurst Street side of the building; it may be that there is an additional Dated panel on the railway track side of the building as well!
