Native Totem Pole - Hope, BC - Outside Wooden Display Carvings on Waymarking.com

Very intricately carved, this totem pole features a total of six figures, one atop the other, from bottom to top. The figures are a mixture of both real life animals and humans, such as an eagle and a fox, a native woman and, above her at the top, a native man, as well as mythical figures. The native man's arms are held above his head cradling a dugout canoe, with four paddlers within.

The totem was created as part of the Millennium Dream Project by Coast Salish carver George R. Price. It is entitled Coming Home and was created in honour of Price's mother and father. The 50 foot (or so) totem was made from a 400 year old Red Cedar which was acquired for the totem pole by Lakeside Forest Products Ltd.
