Richard Wagner was a German composer and theatre director, who is mainly known for his gigantic operas, for which he wrote both the libretto and the music.

Berlin's Richard Wagner Monument was designed by sculptor Gustav Eberlein and inaugurated on October 1, 1903.

Main Belt Asteroid 3992 Wagner was discovered on September 29, 1987 by German astronomer Freimut Börngen and named after the composer.

There is also a crater on Mercury named after Richard Wagner.
