One one side of the marker is written "Edwin W. Son of E.W. & J.S. Elder Born July 28, 1869 Died Sept. 11, 1885 and ELDER below the screw on plate. On another side is a wooden cross covered in ivy. One side has a missing plate, which may have been for E.W. and J.S., Edwin's parents.
On the plinth is written in raised letting "American White Bronze Co. Chicago, ILL."
