From an information panel on site: Kettenkrad During the Second World War German Forces used the Kettenkrad ("Tracked Motorcycle") as an all terrain transport vehicle. Kettenkrads performed a wide range of duties. They carried passengers or cargo, towed small supply trailers, and moved aircraft at forward air strips. Some versions laid cable for communications network or towed light guns. More that 8,000 Kettenkrads were manufactured, and production of an agricultural version continued for several years after the war. Kettenkrad: ( visit link) Museum Guide: ( visit link)
