Lussant's story:
Lussant is a toponym fed first by a historical presence, then Clete and by the Latin language Lucanus (the domain of). This town was indeed crossed by a Roman road, which connected the islands of the old marine gulf. Surrounded by the marshes of the Boutonne, exceptional natural heritage with its preserved grove, the town also has a built heritage symbolized above all by its remarkable church which has kept partly its Romanesque origin Remanée in the fourteenth and fifteenth century, it suffered the Flamboyant Gethic mode by the arrangement of chapels and transept. The church is also characterized by a small funerary chapel to the south bearing the ecu Bouchard Aubeterre Lord de Lussant.
A laundry dating from the 17th century is still visible in the village. deprived of its fountain, it supplied water to a livestock watering trough.

Lussant est un toponyme nourri d abord par une presence historique, puis Clete et par la langue Latine Lucanus (le domaine de ). Cette commune fut en effet traversée par une voie Romaine, qui reliait les iles de l ancien golfe marin. Entourée par le marais dela Boutonne, patrimoine naturel d exception avec son bocage conservé, la commune possede aussi un patrimoine bati symbolisé avant tout par son église remarquable qui a su garder en partie son origine Romane Remaniée au XIV et XVe siecle, elle a subit la mode Gthique Flamboyant par l aménagement notament des chapelles et du transept. L'église se caractérise également par une petite chapelle funéraire au Sud portant l ecu des Bouchards d'Aubeterre Seigneur de Lussant.
Un lavoir daté du XVIIeme siecle est encroe visible dans le bourg. privé de sa fontaine, il alimentait en eau un abreuvoir a bestiaux.
