The sign reads:
Garwood Cemetery - Established in 1912
This cemetery is laid out in an L shape, with approximately 38,000 square feet. I measured only 4,000 sq.ft. of cleared land. Taller headstones are visible above the top of the waist high grass on the left side (parallel to Hwy 71) while the rear section of the cemetery is completely impassable due to the dense brush.
If it was not for the front area being maintained, this would definitely be an Abandoned Cemetery.
There are at lease 42 interments in this cemetery according to the Colorado County, Texas Cemeteries Website. (
visit link) Of those 42, I was able to physically find six.
