"A marble plaque within the building reads "LOYAL MANSFIELD LODGE M.U.I.O.O.F. The land upon which this hall is built was donated by Bros WM Jas, and Robert P R Smith on July 21 1891 and the hall declared open by Bro Robert PR Smith on Nov 17 1892”. " [ex- (visit link) ]

From the above site, it seems that this building was originally the Manchester Unity International Order of Oddfellows building, later becoming the Returned Services League (RSL) building, before they moved into their present building next door.

It is a cream-painted, rendered tall building, seemingly single-storey, by the tall arched windows to the side. There is a large, squarish and flat portico over the footpath to the edge of the road, with a Gravity Station - Survey Marker near the building. The facade facing Highett Street is of an Art-Deco styling. The two sets of three small windows, either side of the twin double doors, look almost 'prison-like', with three glass panels each.

From a sign in a window, the Arcadia Sovereign Chapter No 237, also meets here on the 4th Monday of the quarterly month, at 7:30pm. While the Mansfield Lodge meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 7:30pm.
