"Wetlands are among the most productive ecosystems in the world, comparable to rain forests and coral reefs.

The wetland of which the Brickpond is the deeper western end, which was left when the nearby Susquehanna River changed course. The pond is known as one of the best birding sites in New York State. Sadly due to negative views on wetlands, more than half of America's original wetlands have been destroyed.

Did you know that wetlands are natural wonderlands that have recreational, historical scientific and cultural value?...

Wetlands store carbon with their plant communities releasing it to the atmosphere as carbon dioxide - thus helping moderate climate conditions."
