La ville de Pertuis a décidée de protéger ce très joli et original lavoir. Adossé à un mur, couvert, l'eau se déverse dans deux bassins rectangulaires puis dans un bassin, plus grand en demi-cercle. De l'autre coté du mur, on peut voir une fontaine.

Une plaque retrace l'histoire de la fontaine et du lavoir installé plus tard
Construite en 1509 après l'adduction d'eau de la source de Viade, elle s'appela d'abord la fontaine de Vinory, du nom du vieux quartier où elle se trouvait. En 1584, on délibéra de la surnommer "d'un beau Saint Jacques de Pierre" sur un piédestal et de la baptiser du nom du saint patron de l'hôpital de la ville.

La fontaine lavoir actuelle, édifiée par Louis Chaffard, maçon de la ville en 1851, présente un buffet d'eau sommée d'un fronton sur un bassin de plan tréflé. Deux petits canons latéraux y déversent leur eau. Un modeste lavoir couvert, au bassin en pierre de taille semi-circulaire s'adosse à la fontaine.

The city of Pertuis has decided to protect this very pretty and original wash-house. Backing against a wall, covered, the water flows into two rectangular basins and then into a basin, larger in a semi-circle. On the other side of the wall, you can see a fountain.

A plaque traces the history of the fountain and the washhouse later installed
Built in 1509 after the water supply from the Viade spring, it was first called the Vinory fountain, named after the old district where it was located. In 1584, it was decided to nicknamed "a beautiful St. James of Peter" on a pedestal and to baptize her with the name of the patron saint of the city's hospital.

The current washhouse fountain, built by Louis Chaffard, a city mason in 1851, features a water buffet crowned with a pediment on a basin with a trefoil plan. Two small side guns pour their water into it. A modest covered washhouse, with a semi-circular cut stone basin, backs onto the fountain.
