This monument stands at the front entrance of the Clinton City Hall.

To the right of the main entrance to Clinton City Hall, is a three foot cube on which is mounted a black marble slab. The slab is engraved:

Washita Junction
(now known as Clinton)
June 3, 1903

Congress approved the purchase of land from the Native Americans for Clinton in 1902. The town was first named Washita Junction, but when the Postal system would not accept that name, it was renamed Clinton after Judge Clinton Irwin.
