Sous le maïorat de Fernand Golenvaux, homme politique belge wallon membre du Parti catholique, avocat et industriel, le docteur Gustave Falmagne prit part en 1926 à la vie politique de la ville de Namur en tant qu'échevin. Il mourut inopinément le 16 août 1929 et fut replacé par Léopold Wasseige. En son hommage, la ville de Namur lui consacra aussi une place située quasiment en face du banc.

Under the leadership of Fernand Golenvaux, a Belgian Walloon politician and member of the Catholic Party, lawyer and industrialist, Dr Gustave Falmagne took part in the political life of the city of Namur as an alderman in 1926. He died unexpectedly on August 16, 1929 and was replaced by Léopold Wasseige. In his homage, the city of Namur also dedicated a square located almost in front of the bench.
