Weatherford is a town in southeastern Custer County about 70 miles west of Oklahoma City. It was settled with the opening of the Cheyenne-Arapaho lands for settlement in 1892, and was incorporated in August 1898. McPhetridge Centennial Park is located on the northwest corner of W. Main (Route 66) and Broadway in downtown Weatherford.
The park has a wood pavilion, a time capsule, and benches and several community events are held in the park each year, including "Christmas in the Park" in late November, and "Music on Main" concerts. The park was established in 1997 in time to celebrate the town's 100th anniversary. A time capsule set in 1998 will be opened in 2098.
Approximately 500 pavers are set into the concrete walks of the downtown park, representing individuals and businesses whose support helped build this park to commemorate the town's 100th anniversary.
