The railway line connects Woodlesford Station and Castleford station. Trains for two separate services use the bridge. The Hallam line route connects Leeds and Sheffield, and the Pontefract route connects Leeds and Goole.
Only two of the arches are available for use by boats on the river, the water under the third arch nearest the eastern bank of the river is too shallow and has obstructions.
