FR Histoire Le château de Saint-Maime était lieu de résidence des comtes de Forcalquier, dont le dernier comte de Provence, Raymond Bérenger V de Provence, décédé en 12452.
Le château est inscrit au titre des monuments historiques par arrêté du 4 mars 1998 avec la chapelle Sainte-Agathe.
Le site offre un excellent panorama sur la plaine de Mane ainsi que sur le confluent de la Laye et du Largue. La chapelle et le château sont situées face au village de Dauphin et surplombent Saint-Maime.


Architecture
Le château est entouré de pans de murailles le long du fossé, encore existant, il comprenait une tour donjon, construite en appareil calcaire, sur un plan octogonale, et sur une hauteur de 7,50 mètres, et, sur le côté sud, une chapelle castrale, la chapelle Sainte Agathe, un édifice de forme rectangulaire, voûté en berceau brisé, avec chevet plat, et toiture de lauzes. À l'origine, l'entrée se fait pas la façade ouest, puis en 1745, fut percée une porte cintrée dans le mur sud, la date de 1745 y est gravée. Des peintures murales, du xive siècle, décorent dans le chœur, sous les arcades trilobées des 3 murs se trouvent les apôtres en pied.
EN History The castle of Saint-Maime was the residence of the Counts of Forcalquier, including the last Count of Provence, Raymond Bérenger V of Provence, who died in 12452.
The castle is listed as a historical monument by decree of March 4, 1998 with the chapel Sainte-Agathe.
The site offers an excellent panoramic view of the Mane plain as well as the confluence of the Laye and Largue rivers. The chapel and the castle are located opposite the village of Dauphin and overlook Saint-Maime.


Architecture
The castle is surrounded by sections of walls along the moat, still existing, it included a keep tower, built in limestone, on an octagonal plan, and on a height of 7.50 meters, and, on the south side, a castle chapel, the chapel Sainte Agathe, a rectangular building, vaulted in a broken cradle, with flat chevet, and roof of lauzes. Originally, the entrance was not on the west side, then in 1745, a curved door was drilled into the south wall, the date 1745 is engraved on it. Mural paintings, dating from the 14th century, decorate in the choir, under the three-lobed arches of the three walls are the apostles standing at full height.
