The Purcell post office, located at 228 W. Main Street, is a one-story orange brick building with a basement. The tall windows are separated by wide brick pilasters. A wide stone frieze at the roof line is engraved UNITED STATES POST OFFICE / PURCELL, OKLAHOMA.

The main entrance has a five-step stairway, with double aluminum and glass doors. Above the entrance the zip code 73080 is shown. Above that is a square metal filligris design with a golden eagle in the center. A second entrance with a ramp is located on the side. The cornerstone shows the date of 1938.

The post office was placed on the national Register of Historic Places in January 2018.
