Lake Taupo is New Zealand’s largest volcano and its largest lake. It occupies much of the caldera (volcanic depression) formed by massive eruptions between 50,000 and 22,000 years ago. The Karangahape Cliffs, which form part of the caldera rim, are a striking feature. These towering cliffs plunging into very deep water are a feature of the Western Bays, Lake Taupo. The Karangahape cliffs, formed from rhyolitic domes, rise 1250 feet above water level.

This scenic Utility box is situated on the roadside in Acacia Bay Road opposite the Brentwood Ave turnoff.
