Memorial Building Sundial - Carnegie, OK - Sundials on Waymarking.com

The Memorial Building is a former elementary and junior high school, located on S. Carnegie Street near the intersection of State Highways 58 and 9. The building is currently used by the town for their Headstart program, and local community activities.

In front of the building on the west side is a four foot high concrete pillar with a bronze sundial on top. Unfortunately, the dial is missing, so the sundial is not functional at this time. Shown in the center is an hourglass with eagle wings. The numbers are in Roman numerals and in raised lettering, it reads:

LIGHT FOLLOWS DARKNESS
Longest day June 21
Twelve hour day September 21
Shortest day December 21
