It takes the form of a soldier in service dress and helmet standing against a tree stump while standing at ease, this is mounted on an ornate short pillar which in turn rests on an octagonal plinth with a three stepped base. The names of the dead from the First World War are inscribed around the base of the memorial.

After the Second World War 3 free standing shields were placed in front of the memorial containing the names of the dead from that war. The middle shield contains the names of civilians that died.
