The post office here in Douglasville was created in 1873. It moved into this building in 1880 and remained there until 1915.
In 1915 the Hutcheson Building was built to house the post office and a law firm.
"In 1873, a post office was established at the site of what was to become Douglasville, and in the 1880s, it was moved into the two-story brick building on the corner of Broad Street and Campbellton Street. It occupied a back corner of C. O. Dorsett's dry goods and millinery store." ~ NRHP Nomination Form
