The building was originally known as the Water Hole #2 and is a former 1930’s beer joint, & US.66 rest stop.


The Tumblweed Grill stands alongside Historic Route 66, also known as the Mother Road, Main Street of America, & in Oklahoma the Will Rogers Highway.

This is a great stop, even if just for a photo of the watering hole Mural.

The town of Texola itself dates back to the early 1900s and has previously been known as Texokla, Texoma, & Texola is almost a Ghost Town and has some interesting relics of gas stations and a territorial jail cell.

"Located on Route66 in the World Famous Water Hole # 2 building in historic Texola, Oklahoma. We have completely renovated the original structure in the oldest building on Route 66 operating as a restaurant.

Tumbleweeds also has the only general store within ten miles of Texola.

After you visit us you can explore the Texola Ghost Town, which is on the Texas-Oklahoma border. It is featured in Ghost Towns of Route 66 by Jim Hinkley with photographs by Kerrick James."
