Texola is the last town in Oklahoma as you travel West on Route 66, at the border with Texas. Most of the Town is completely abandoned, the tiny Jail has not been used for decades, now a roadside attraction, in this ghost town of Texola, Oklahoma.

The tiny one cell Jail, a quirky roadside attraction, one of the many oddball sights you stumble across as you get your kicks on 66. The former Jail, former museum, & out of place Class of 39 sign, lies abandoned, like most of the Town.

Perhaps a chance to put your other half, behind bars for a photo opportunity.

Texola – Ghost town - The last town on the Route 66 in Oklahoma, on the border to Texas. This small town has 30 residents at most. A part of the place is completely abandoned. In the 1910s 300 people lived in Texola, formerly called Texokla, then Texoma and today finally Texola.
A tiny building, the former Jail, standing all alone in a nearly abandoned ghost town. Propped in front is an out-of-place memorial to the high school Class of 1939.
This quirky attraction is in the town of Texola, Oklahoma. That’s if you want to call it a town. It is so small and following the directions I had finding it just wasn’t happening. What was more surprising was there were two other cars following us, obviously looking for the same attraction. This is suppose to be a tiny building, standing all alone in a nearly abandoned ghost town. The town we found, the tiny building, took some looking for. In front of the building is suppose to be an out of place memorial plaque to the high school class of 1939. This was one of those things we were about to say, you know what, lets forget it…but that wouldn’t be Thelma and Louise, so we kept driving trough town looking for this small building. Finally on the opposite side of the highway, we found it. Turns out one of the cars that had been following us, her grandmother was in that graduating class of 1939."
