The Isle of Man's Courts transferred from the building to the right of the arch to a new Courthouse Complex in 1996. The old courthouse building and the adjacent town house were converted into use as offices, bar, restuarant and a nightclub. The original front and side elevations of the courthouse were retained although internally the building was completely reconstructed and an additional floor was added at the top of the building.

A new entrance for the offices in the new building was formed by the replacement of the town house, with a glazed façade accessed through a new freestanding arch, providing a reference to the grand portico of the original building.

Hugh Logan Architects were the prinicpal designers for the conversion work for both the courthouse and the adjacent town house, including the freestanding arch.

The arch is consctucted from concrete and carries the name 'COURT HOUSE' in large gold-coloured lettering.
