"The house is one story with gable front and has minimal Colonial Revival detailing. The entrance consists of double doors and is sheltered by a small, pedimented portico supported by classical columns." ~ NRHP Nomination Form
"Box cornice with returns on porch with "broken" pediment; sunburst
wood detailing above 2 front doors; half-round attic vent on gable
end of E (main) facade; most windows appear to be sash-type.
"Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Jackson Hamilton moved here in 1973 after Mr. Hamilton had retired from S.E. Mo. State College in Cape Girardeau, where he had taught American history for 32 years. He had been a graduate of Westminster College, had received an M.A. at M.U., his Ph.D. at
the University of Wisconsin, and had done graduate work at Harvard. He died in Sept. of 1974.
"The house appears to have been built after 1930, according to the Sanborn maps; Mrs. Hamilton, however believes that the house is a very altered older home, that Mrs. Sue Hatcher used to live in. The physical appearance of the house, however, does not suggest an older home.
"A large granite rock, left over from glacial times (?) sits prominently in the front yard; it has been here for many years; Mrs. Carr remembers that as a young child, c. 1910's, she was told it was a meteor from outer space; the belief of which terrified her." ~ Fulton Historic Survey page 208
