This concrete Memorial honors both the Oregon Trail and the Pony Express on separate faces.

In a city park in Guernsey, the Memorial sets near a playground and picnic table. It was placed by the town to draw attention to the actual historical site. The concrete marker is four feet tall with plaques inset on the faces.
The explanatory plaque reads: To all pioneers who passed this way to win and hold the west. Trail and Register cliff one mile south. Erected by people of Guernsey 1932.

How you discovered it: Visiting the site of the Oregon Trail Ruts, a well-known historic site in Wyoming. We stopped for a meal in the nearby town and had a picnic in the park where we discovered the monument.
