The Keaiwa Heiau State Recreation Area is located near a Honolulu neighborhood called "Aiea Heights". It's a great place to escape the big city and do some hiking while enjoying the fresh outdoors in between Norfolk pines and eucalyptus trees.

Keaiwa Heiau State Recreation Area is a 384-acre park located at the Northern edge of the suburb of Aiea Heights, approximately 10 miles from downtown Honolulu.
While the park is formally recognized for being the location of the "Keaiwa Heiau" -- a temple that native Hawaiians would visit to be healed -- the real main attraction for the local Honolulu residents is the 4.8 miles "Aiea Loop Trail" which runs through the park and allows you to experience some lush flora including groves of Norfolk pines and eucalyptus trees. The hike also offers glimpses of Pearl Harbor from above, and is home to an elusive B-24 bomber airplane crash site (although few people have been able to find its remnants: see the following
waymark for further details).
If you are not into hiking, then the park is a great place for a quiet picnic on a day off. It also hosts some campsites which are available for rent.
