City View United Church was originally aligned with the Methodist Church in Canada. The original church, built in the 19th century was replaced by a new structure in 1905. This church suffered serious damage in a fire, but was rebuilt and rededicated in 1908.
In 1925, the church realigned with the new United Church of Canada.
The old church remained in use until the mid 1960's when a burgeoning suburban population and aging infrastructure necessitated an new building.
The cornerstone is from the original replacement church.
