At the US Naval Academy there are two large torpedoes on display. One is a type 91 aerial torpedo from Okinawa. The other, a type 93 torpedo, has a plaque which reads:


Japanese Torpedo

This type 93 torpedo is the largest enemy
weapon of it's kind encountered in World War II.

It is 29 1/2 feet long, 24 inches in diameter
and carries over 1,000 lbs. of explosive in the
war head. At the low speed setting of 40 knots
a maximum range of approximately 30,000 yards
is obtained.
