For having passed away well into the "computer era" we don't know much about Carl L. Buchanan except the year of his birth and death, but not the months. An extensive web search was made to find a full obituary for him. One mention of the name Carl Buchanan ("and his wife") appears in a 1949 Joplin Globe article, when Carl would have been 48 or 49 years old. (Another find of the name Carl Buchanan in Missouri appears in an obituary for centenarian Esther K. Weddington for an honorary pallbearer for her interment at Viney Creek Cemetery. But since she died in 2010 and Carl died in 2003, he'd have made a ghostly pallbearer.)

Since we don't know what month or day that Carl died, although he may have lived 103 years, we'll conservatively say 102 years until/unless other information is found.
