The waymark coordinates are for the pink granite El Camino Real marker erected by the Daughters of the American Revolution and the State of Louisiana in 1956. The marker is next to the Natchitoches Visitor Center along LA SH 6, the original route of the El Camino Real.
The marker reads as follows:
"EL CAMINO REAL
KINGS HIGHWAY
OLD SAN ANTONIO TRACE
Traveled by St. Denis in 1714 from Natchitoches to the Rio Grande
Natchitoches, the oldest town in Louisiana, was established in 1714.
Marked by the state of Louisiana and the daughters of the American Revolution A.D. 1951
