The Worcester City Council voted to establish a trade school for boys in 1908. Milton Higgins, a Worcester citizen, came to the city in the 1860's, thru his enthusiasm, traveled extensively, speaking about the school to be and donating and receiving donations for its construction. The first section was completed in 1910. In 1916-1917 the school embarked on an expansion and most of the construction work was performed by the students attending classes. The building looks very much like it did in 19010.
