Euston Gardens is the focal point at the east end of Fleetwood's Esplande, and this small cannon lends to the atmosphere of the area's history. Nearby is the
Fleetwood Lifeboat Station, the
Wyre Estuary Ferry, and several memorials to those lost at sea:
Cherub Memorial Fountain,
James Abram & George Greenall Memorial. The historic Euston Hotel can be seen in the background to the west.
There is no information on this small cannon, but it probably dates from the late 19th century when the North Euston Hotel, in the background, was used as a Musketry School and military barracks. Or, it could have come from a ship since Blackpool was once the largest fishing port on Britain's west coast.
