The 3-story Uptown Broadway Building, 4703-17 N. Broadway
The 1926 building, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is an exceptional example of terra cotta design, a Chicago Department of Planning and Development project manager told the commission.

Green Mill Jazz Club
"One of Uptown’s most historic spots, the Green Mill Cocktail Lounge (formerly Pop Morse's Roadhouse and Green Mill Gardens) was a popular hangout for actors at nearby Essanay Studios dating back to 1907. The current building, built in 1914, is the remaining portion of a much larger complex demolished to build the Uptown Theater."

Uptown Theater
Opened in August 1925, the phrase "an acre of seats in a magic city" was coined to describe the wonders of over 4,300 seats in a theater that covered 46,000 square feet of land. The former premier movie theater on the north side is now vacant.
The former Uptown National Bank Building, another terra cotta gem, was featured during the October 2013 Open House Chicago event. The beautiful second floor lobby, normally closed, was open to visitors. Scenes from the movie "Public Enemies" were filmed here.
The area certainly has seen its share of good times and bad. Hopefully now it is back on an upswing!
