This school is in pretty good shape. There was one window temporarily boarded up when I visited it. Although it was locked, of course, a look inside the windows showed that it has been used not too long ago, perhaps for local gatherings.
The Brock family settled in the area around 1840. A photo of the circa 1895 class outside the school can be found on rootsweb. Scroll down on this rootsweb page to see another photo and some more description of the school.
The original hand-operated pump is not far from the front of the school. The old outhouse, still in usable condition, is down the hill about 220 feet southwest, not far from the Brock School Cemetery. Please remember to close the gate if you open it to visit the outhouse and/or cemetery.
