Located inside the Museum at the San Andres Archaeological site, this replica gives the viewer a sense of what the area looked like centuries ago.
There are several pyramids at this Mayan site which is still being excavated. The largest structure is a distance from the other and visitors can see it but not visit it due to continuing excavations.
One of these pyramids is still conical in structure on the side that is covered by soil. Although there was no information at the site about it, these structures were most likely hidden for centuries by the ash and lava from nearby volcanic activity as were the Mayan ruins in other areas of El Salvador.
