This house at this lot was originally a Rural Gothic design built around 1870 and located at the corner of Court and Capitol Streets. It was moved here around 1915 by John Porter Frizzell, treasurer and general manager of Salem's
City View Cemetery Association. J.P. Frizzell, and his wife Alice, never lived here but used it as a rental property. In 1934, Alice sold the property to her son Ronald and his wife Priscilla. In 1935, the younger Frizzells undertook a complete remodeling project, converting it to a Georgian style, modeled after Hollywood director
Raoul Walsh's estate in California. The Frizzells owned the house until 1943.
