In 1908, this lot was sold to H.L. May, a carpenter, who built the house in 1909 at a cost of $4,000. Mr. May "flipped" the house to Lafayette and Eva Cavanaugh in 1910. Mr. Cavanaugh was a stock dealer and the Cavanughs lived at the house until 1920.
The house is a large, two-story American Foursquare (Craftsman) featuring a front-facing dormer on the south (entrance) side of the house. A notable feature is the front porch, which is square-shaped and recessed into the southeast side of the house. There is a side-entry on the east side of the house which opens onto a lower back addition, which is a separate address, possibly occupied by a different tenant than the main house.
