Tamalpais Maiden is a 17 foot long steel sculpture resting on the ground at the entrance to the Bon Air Shopping Center. Her namesake Mt. Tamalpais can be seen about 3 miles away.

The sculpture was originally placed to generate interest in a fund-raiser for a proposed statue of explorer Sir Francis Drake. The effort succeeded and a 30-foot tall Sir Francis Drake, also done by the same artist, Dennis Patton, was eventually located in nearby Larkspur.

The sculpture was later purchased and left permanently at the Bon Air Shopping Center.
