This full length nude figure rest on the ground at the entrance to Bon Air Shopping Center. The maiden's namesake mountain can be seen in the background.

This is the only Smithsonian sculpture listed for the small town of Greenbrae, California. This 17 foot long statue is 11 feet wide and 5 feet tall. The Tamalpais Maiden is reclined at an entrance way to a shopping center, in the shadow of Mount Tamalpais.

From the Smithsonian AIC Remarks:

"Tamalpais" is a Native American word meaning "sleeping lady". The sculpture was originally placed at the Bon Air Shopping Center to aid in fund raising for a sculpture of Sir Francis Drake. The sculpture was later purchased and permanently sited at the shopping center.

Heroic full-length nude female figure. She is reclining; her head propped up on her proper left hand. Her eyes are closed. The abstract Cor-Ten steel sculpture rests directly on the ground.
