This is one of two granite sculptures on either side of the entrance to the Cultural Center in the rural town of Yesan.

Depicted in this granite sculpture is a mother, seated with a snall child standing at her left knee. The figures are slightly abstracted.

There is no identifying plaque for this sculpture, since there is a similar sculpture on the other side of the building entrance, it may be by the same artist. That sculpture, "Culture Family" is the creation of Lee, Jin-ja and is dated Aug. 20, 2002.

Most towns and neighborhoods in Korea have a citizens center or a cultural center where community meetings, educational activities, and small gatherings can take place. This one has these family sculptures on the outside and an ample paved parking lot. Yesan is a rural town southwest of the cities of Cheonan and Asan.
