The Doggie Diner head has been preserved and memorialized. Removed from it's last location at the Carousel Restaurant, it now stands on the median strip of Sloat Boulevard at 45th Avenue, across from the San Francisco Zoo.

In the Zippy strip "It's A Zoo Out There", Zippy asks the Doggie Dinner head how it feels to be an official San Francisco Landmark? The last Doggie Diner head had been restored to a pole on the median strip right across from the San Francisco Zoo. The Doggie said he missed the smell of Teriyaki Burgers and Diet Pepsi.
