G Company from the Third Marine Battalion, First Regiment from the First Marine Division, also known as 'Bloody George', was mobilized from Camp Pendleton in 1950 and went ashore in Korea at Inchon. They went on to fight at Chosin Reservoir, Seoul, Majon-ni, and other battlefields.

The G-3-1 (G for George Co., 3 for 3rd battalion, 1 for 1st regiment) holds annual reunions and they raised $26,000 to erect a monument at Semper Fidelis Memorial Park near the National Museum of the Marine CorpsClick for related waymark to open in new window. It was dedicated at a ceremony on November 10, 2011. It is a memorial to those who died In Korea.

The granite obelisk stands along the memorial walk near the Semper Fi Memorial ChapelClick for related waymark to open in new window and bears the names of 149 Marines who killed in action while serving in Korea. A plaque on the base is inscribed:

KOREA

LET IT BE REMEMBERED THAT THE MEN OF GEORGE
COMPANY, 3RD BN., 1ST MARINES, 1ST MARINE DIVISION
(REINFORCED), SERVED THEIR COUNTRY WITH DISTINCTION
DURING THE YEARS 1950 THROUGH 1953 IN KOREA.

MAY IT NEVER BE FORGOTTEN THAT ALL GAVE SOME,
AND THESE 149 MARINES GAVE ALL.

Combat historian, Patrick O'Donnell, wrote Give Me Tomorrow, a book which chronicles George Co. from its landing at Inchon through the fighting in sub-zero Chosin Resevoir where they were outnumbered and surrounded by Chinese. At Chosin, a reporter asked a Marine, whose picture is on the cover of the book, what he wanted for Christmas, and he answered, "Give me tomorrow".

The museum, which includes the Korean War GalleryClick for link to open in new window and an interactive display for experiencing Chosin Reservoir, and park are a part of the Marine Corps Heritage Center in Triangle, VA and is adjacent to the Quantico Marine Corps Base. It is open daily to the public from 9 AM to 5 PM except for Christmas. There is no admission to any of the facilities.
