The narrative is not too up to date as the original columns have been replaced to reflect the original Victorian architecture. Once rundown now restored to former glory and one of the best if not nicest of Victorians on this street.

I had a terrific conversation with the home owner who lived here in 79 when the narrative was written. The author of the narratives, long gone, still have descendants living in town. She informed me the narrative, which she was very familiar with, is no longer relevant as she spent a lot of time and money getting the house back to its original state. She was particular proud of the columns, replacing the old ones. Also she found some of the gingerbread detail on the side and had more made to match and put it up front where it used to be. She also pointed out the house next to her did the same in like form. The original hitching post and stone step-up still remain on the property.

For a more detailed and informed physical description of this site, I have added information from the original nomination form sent to me by John P. Byrne, National Register Database Manager (John_Byrne@nps.gov), Department of the Interior. This narrative was created March 16, 1979, mailed in to Washington, D.C. and evaluated April 18, 1980 and finally approved on July 21, 1982. Thanks to this designation and the efforts of the community to stop developers in the early 70s, Haddonfield is permanently protected and is one of the best example of an intact Colonial America, this site not withstanding.

Important, handsome, large early Victorian 3 story square frame dwelling. Flat roof, wide overhand with fine double brackets. Open porch across front, with cornice and brackets. Appears that classic type porch columns added later replacing Victorian columns. Original Victorian windows, 2 over 2 lights. Third floor windows same, but reduced in length. Original narrow wood siding and shutters. Stone foundation. Condition is rundown, but structurally sound and could easily be restored. --- National Register of Historic Places Inventory -- Haddonfield Historic District Nomination Form

If you have half a mind to explore this waymark and the hundreds of others in this historic area, go to this WEBSITE, you will see where all the free parking in town is located as well as all the other historical areas. The are several close-by public parking areas. Parking for this homes is kinda dicey as it is at an intersection. Park a few houses away on Lincoln Street across from the school, then walk back up and make a right on Chestnut and walk down the block.
