Hamilton-Ipswich 11 WM (H-I11 WM) - Public Land Survey Marks on Waymarking.com

This is one of many granite posts used to mark points on the boundary lines between towns in Massachusetts, in this case, the Town of Hamilton and the Town of Ipswich. The letter "H" (for Hamilton) is inscribed on one side, and the letter "I" (for Ipswich) is on the opposite side. Portions of the characteristic orange paint band around the top can be seen.

The nearest survey marker is H-I10A (WM6CT1),about 0.1 mile south. This marker is at the end of a straight line series, and from here the boundary line follows the Ipswich River upstream (west).

Please note: this marker is on private property. Be sure to get permission before you look for it.

Type of survey mark: Granite post, approximately eight inches square, and about two feet high. What indicators are near the mark to help people identify where it is located?: It is on a steep slope, with the Ipswich River at the bottom, and a large farm "compost" pile at the top. The marker is leaning about 30 degrees, and there is a wooden fence post about a foot away. What property is this mark defining?: The boundary line between the towns of Hamilton and Ipswich.
